A mining bee we think. These solitary bees often appear early in the year.Attracted in by the pretty Pansies Effie planted last year 🥰Lots of brassicas in the tunnel have bolted and gone to flower now, which is great as we hope to collect the seeds to grow more 🥦

IMPORTANT UPDATE 😃🎥 JUMPING HEN VIDEO NOW ON OUR TikTokNo idea if I can link it, or how, but follow us on TikTok if you like birdsong and, well it’s mostly birdsong. We only have 15 followers over there 😆😆🐓Hens helping pick raspberries this afternoon. They were jumping to get them! I’ll have to try and get a video.🍓Plenty for us though and the birds and the hens. I just need longer arms. Good timing as the strawberries are finishing up

⚖️ Last month we began weighing how much food we are producing with the aim of scaling up in future years to feed ourselves and hopefully in time we can supply others too🍎At the moment we are finding out what grows well here, trying different varieties, figuring out what we like to eat (and what we don’t) and learning how to preserve our surplus.In July we produced 45.6kg of food averaging almost 1.5 kilos of food per day, all grown without chemicals 😃Potatoes making up the majority of the weight by a very long way, then strawberries, courgettes, beetroot, eggs, currants, raspberries then salad and leafy greens 🥔 🍓 🥚 🥗
